We travelled to Chatham Town today for our second derby in as many weeks. I mentioned last week that they found their feet in the Kent league with a good win down at Dover and they were certainly up for it today, with neither team able to play any kind of decent football due to the state of the pitch it would be down to a good old fashioned battle. The first 10 minutes were spent up and down the pitch just to turn it up even more than it was, Chatham got the break through from a long ball down the middle, as callum came out of his goal for what should have been an easy clearance his kick hit the on coming forward and rebounded in to the goal 0-1. A few minutes later Ti was brought down in the Chatham box and H stepped up to slot home 1-1. Blair got the break through with the ball worked over from the left for Rossi to slot home well 2-1. With a couple of minutes left of the half chats got a corner as the ball was crossed a Chats forward bundled over our defender a clear foul for everyone to see apart from the man that counts, the ball went to another Chats forward who now had no one marking him, to be fair the Chats forward did bang it home well 2-2.
Chats came out fighting in the second half but for some reason we just didn’t get going, couldn’t put 3 passes together and as for communication you would have thought that was illegal, the points were there for the taking but we never showed the fighting spirit that is required we just lay down, this half of so called football was the worst I have seen all season, where as Chats put in the effort and all got stuck in and deservedly went home with a 4-2 win and another 3 points.
Norton Sports away next week and if we don’t get ourselves back on track we could be there first victims. Training now on a Wednesday, see you all then. |
