Blair Through To Geerings Cup Final
By Paul Tyrer.

Blair continued their recent fine form with an excellent 1-0 victory at Maidstone to secure a Geerings Cup Final clash next month against Canterbury, who won 3-2 on penalties against Bromley today after a 1-1 draw.

On a heavy pitch which cut up early on, it was the visitors who started stronger against a side which went top of the league last week. Austin Edwards and Tolly Beatson had early attempts on goal before Louis Payne hit another contender for goal of the season in the 31st minute, firing home from outside of the area and giving the home keeper no chance - it was the fourth consecutive game he has scored in. Maidstone gradually got back into the game but half time came with Blair in front.

As the snow arrived in the second half, the game developed into a tense midfield battle with chances for either team few and far between, although Tolly Beatson had a couple of half chances late on. Despite around six minutes of extra time, Maidstone struggled to break down the solid Blair defence and the fully deserved victory was secured.
