Blair continued their recent good form with an excellent 3-0 victory over league leaders Folkestone, who were playing their first game for over two months
The home side started brightly and their passing game soon put the visitors under pressure, with Joe Beatson going close early on after his shot was saved onto the post. Louis Payne and Finn McGibbon also kept the keeper busy before Blair had a chance to take the lead in the 21st minute, after a penalty was awarded for a push on McGibbon. However, McGibbon's spot kick was saved well by the keeper. Sam Murray and Mark Wood also had half chances but the half came to an end still goalless.
A similar pattern continued in the second half, although Folkestone did go close a couple of times before Blair took the lead in the 51st minute. Scott Bennett and Joe Beatson combined to set up Tolly Beatson who slotted home a shot into the bottom right corner. The lead was doubled a minute later when Louis Payne scored with a contender for goal of the season, firing home from outside the area. Tolly Beatson secured the victory seven minutes from time, with another excellent goal from outside the area.
Another superb team performance with everyone from the back to the front playing their part - the Geerings Cup semi final next week at Maidstone now awaits. |
